Book of Remembrance entry

V.D., M.S.A., F.I.A., L.R.I.B.A., Diploma in Military Science : Major, 1st Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli and E g yp t; also Sea Transport Service. Joining 1st Battn. as major 16th January, 1915, and sailing as O.C. Reinforcements on troopship Seang Bee 13th February, was O.C., beach and hold parties Nizam at Lemnos 10th April, and was present at the Anzac Landing, joining battalion on 28th April. Was Military Transport Officer Minnewaska to and from Alexandria in May. Rejoining battalion as O.C., C Coy. on 28th, was wounded at midnight and evacuated to No. 7 General Hospital, Alexandria, later going to No. 5 Convalescent Hospital. On recovery was stationed at Kasr-el-Nil Barracks and later O.C. Training Battns., Zeitoun and Abbassia, rejoining 1st Battn. at Tel-el-Kebir. Transferring to 54th in February, 1916, was invalided home at the end of April, A.I.F. appointment being terminated 17th June. Then, after being O.C. Reinforcements, Cootamundra and Liverpool Camps, was appointed to Sea Transport Service 17th October, 1917, becoming O.C. Troops on Demosthenes and Balmoral Castle , returning in March, 1918.
