Book of Remembrance entry

Mil.Sci. : Major, 2nd and 1st Signal Squadrons, A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Palestine. Enlisting 18th August, 1914, and sailing as sergeant-major 1st Divisional Signal Coy., was Instructor at Signal Training Corps, Mena, during January, 1915. Served at the Anzac Landing and until wounded 9th July, when evacuated to hospital and thence to Australia. Was Chief Instructor of Signals in N.S.W. from 9th July, 1916, to 23rd January, 1917. Re-embarking with 35th Battn. reinforcements 24th January, became Senior Instructor Australian Corps Signals on the Somme from 1st May to 28th July. On 20th October appointed second in command, 1st Signal Squadron, in Palestine and Syria (from Jaffa to Homs, including Jerusalem, Jericho, Amman, Es Salt and final operations). On 8th July, 1918, became O.C. 2nd Signal Squadron and from 17th January, 1919, to 20th April was Chief Signal Officer A.I.F. in Egypt. Early education at Croydon Park and Canterbury Public Schools.
